Job Title: Communications Officer
Location: Based in Pemba, Cabo Delgado, with frequent travel to Palma
Program: Water and Sanitation

Job Objective: To support ALPS Resilience in the implementation of communication activities for the water and sanitation project in Palma and other organizational activities. The Communications Officer will be responsible for developing and executing communication strategies, managing social media and websites, in addition to other technical and humanitarian responsibilities.

Main Responsibilities:
Develop and execute communication plans that promote the activities and outcomes of the project.
Develop communication materials, including newsletters, press releases, reports, and presentations.
Manage and update the organization’s social media channels with relevant and engaging content.
Maintain and update the organization’s website, ensuring that information is always current and accessible.
Create and implement awareness campaigns about the water and sanitation program.
Develop and implement radio programs or activities to disseminate the project’s actions and results.
Create informational leaflets and manuals about the project for community distribution.
Organize events and workshops to promote the project’s activities and engage the community.
Documentation and Reporting:
Document project activities, including photographs, videos, and success stories.
Prepare periodic progress and impact reports on communication activities.
Establish and maintain relationships with local and international media.
Coordinate field visits with journalists and other stakeholders.
Provide communication support to field teams, including creating informational materials and training in communication.
Ensure adequate visibility of the project’s activities in all intervention areas.
Monitor and evaluate the impact of communication activities and adjust strategies as necessary.
Collect and analyze data to measure the effectiveness of communication campaigns.

Requirements:
Degree in Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, or related fields.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, preferably in communication.
Fluency in English and Portuguese (written and spoken).
Proven experience in managing social media and websites.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Willingness to travel frequently to intervention areas.

Desirable Skills:
Knowledge in graphic design and video editing tools.
Experience with photography and video production.
Familiarity with humanitarian principles and sustainable development.
Ability to adapt to challenging and multicultural environments.
