About the role:
\nUpEnergy is at a time of exciting growth, expanding both in terms of product and geographic portfolio. In the context of our Expansion to the Mozambique market, we are looking for an experienced Financial Accountant who is passionate about our mission and motivated by the challenge to help UpEnergy run operations in a key market. The Financial Accountant will be responsible for supporting audits, tracking and reconciling the company\u2019s Balance sheet, Profit and loss accounts, support the Finance Manager or Country Director in making sure that operations and finance functions are running smoothly in Mozambique. He\/she will also provide support in inventory management and reconciliation.<\/p>\n
This role will report to the Finance Manager or Country Director for Mozambique.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
Financial Accounting and Reporting
\n\u2022 Support the monthly closing and reporting process for Mozambique, to ensure timely month-end reporting.
\n\u2022 Support all accounting operations including but not limited to billing, payroll, A\/R, A\/P, Inventory, and general ledger.
\n\u2022 Ensure weekly reconciliations of bank accounts, mobile money accounts and petty cash.
\n\u2022 Support the risk of issues in financial reporting across auditors and government entities.
\n\u2022 Update, track and maintain fixed asset register, prepaids and cash advances, internally and externally.
\n\u2022 Meeting of month end close deadlines and accurate\/complete posting of all mobile money\/bank\/petty cash transactions.<\/p>\n
Payments & Banking
\n\u2022 Process mobile Bank\/mobile money payments and posting in QuickBooks within correct budget line item.
\n\u2022 Ensure timely payment of all payment request types to internal and external vendors.
\n\u2022 Organize, file, and follow up on and maintain payment support, from vendors, field and internal team.
\n\u2022 Proactive teamwork and coordinate with other entire Upenergy Team.
\n\u2022 Help supervise admin stuff as needed.
\n\u2022 Conduct bank runs as and when required
\n\u2022 Maintain fixed assets register by regularly updating it
\n\u2022 Maintain and update prepaid register by regularly updating it.<\/p>\n
Tax & Audit
\n\u2022 Coordinate tax filings\/audits and external audits, and work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure tax compliance.
\n\u2022 Support external audits of country operations.
\n\u2022 Create and maintain internal review function for tax payments and work with relevant 3rd parties to find solutions to tax-related questions.
\n\u2022 assist risk of tax payments and external audits, and support country finance lead with any government revenue authority audits.<\/p>\n
Operations
\n\u2022 Coordinate stock counts, and inventory audits with the supply chain team.
\n\u2022 Work with the supply chain team to track inventory and COGS as products follow across the organization from customer to end customer.
\n\u2022 Participate in projects across manufacturing, supply chain distribution, sales and marketing, retail partnerships, grants.<\/p>\n

Must Have
\n\u2022 Relevant Bachelor\u2019s Accounting and Auditing degree and\/or CIMA\/ACCA\/OCAM Membership<\/p>\n
\u2022 Advanced English language
\n\u2022 3+ years of accounting experience<\/p>\n
\u2022 Experience working within the accounting or operational finance department of an international entity
\n\u2022 Experience managing financial statements and GL (preferably with QuickBooks)
\n\u2022 Experience with tax filings, working with tax authorities and internal and external audits
\n\u2022 Advanced MS Excel skills
\n\u2022 High work ethic
\n\u2022 Strong leadership and team building abilities
\n\u2022 Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
\n\u2022 Strong organizational skills<\/p>\n
Nice to Have
\n\u2022 Familiarity with project finance and\/or the development of energy or carbon projects. Experience in carbon project development is a huge plus.
\n\u2022 An understanding of customers and business culture in Mozambique.<\/p>\n
