The Controller is responsible for financial management, including project-spending patterns against budget projections, preparation of financial reports, oversight of funds, and compliance with local laws and donor regulations and practices. Controllers have experience in accounting, not-for-profit donor reporting, and familiarity with the financial monthly closing processes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Country Platform Description:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>TechnoServe has been providing technical assistance to Mozambique\u2019s industries, agribusinesses, and entrepreneurs with high growth potential for over 20 years, since our office first opened in 1998. We have helped create a competitive and sustainable commercial agricultural sector, which has generated opportunities for small-scale rural producers and suppliers, in addition to new employment opportunities for the rural poor. TechnoServe in Mozambique is known for creating lasting impact in the value chains of cashew and poultry, though we&#8217;ve also worked in agro-forestry, seed systems, horticulture and access to finance. We work with corporate partners to promote investments in key industries and build local supply chains for sourcing, as well as public sector partners to build capacity to regulate and promote growing industries. Our goal in the next 10 years is to scale our impact through leveraging and sharing knowledge and build new partnerships in order to catalyze further change.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Primary Functions &amp; Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Accounting and Financial Reporting<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide oversight and guidance in all financial matters pertaining to the country office including proper recording of accounting transactions, cash management, cash requests, and reporting;<\/li>\n<li>Ensure compliance with GAAP, TNS\u2019s financial policies and procedures, statutory and donor requirements<\/li>\n<li>Develop staff and assist in implementing continuous process improvements work plans across field offices<\/li>\n<li>Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and other closing financial analyses schedules to Headquarters<\/li>\n<li>Manage and monitor all processes for the monthly close and internal controls for the Mozambique Country.<\/li>\n<li>Analyze financial data and effectively communicate critical financial matters to the Regional Controller<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Budgeting, monitoring and reporting<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lead annual and mid-year budgeting processes, in coordination with program directors and program managers<\/li>\n<li>Led the development of budgets for new projects and, in coordination with the Operations Director to ensure compliance with donor requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure all budgets and expenses are managed in accordance with donor guidelines and TechnoServe\u2019s policies and regulations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Audit and Compliance<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure timely completion of statutory, donor and organizational audits<\/li>\n<li>Identify and assist in developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and systems needed to comply with changing regulatory requirements<\/li>\n<li>Review and approve audit responses and evaluate adequacy of corrective and\/or preventative actions<\/li>\n<li>Ensure timely implementation of audit recommendations<\/li>\n<li>Provide guidance and oversight of donor reporting<\/li>\n<li>Assistance and coordination with program and local entity audits, analysis and reporting<\/li>\n<li>Cultivates and maintains strong working partnerships and effective communications with all key stakeholders<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Performs other duties and projects as assigned<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Basic Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree in accounting or finance plus a minimum of 10 years of experience in financial and grants management in an international work setting; or Master\u2019s degree plus a minimum of 7 years of experience in these same areas, or a diploma +10 years of experience in finance management;<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of fund based accounting and experience with complex internal non-profit organizations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required Languages:<\/strong>\u00a0Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills, including fluency in Portuguese and English languages.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Travel:\u00a0<\/strong>Travel up to 25%<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Certification such as CMA, CPA or other related certifications<\/li>\n<li>Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Serenic Navigator) and\/or Jet Reports experience<\/li>\n<li>Experience living or working in [Enter Region].<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strong interpersonal cross-cultural skills<\/li>\n<li>Strong knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Supervisory Responsibilities:<\/strong>\u00a0Will be leading the accountant coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>Apply for this job: <a href=\"https:\/\/recruiting.ultipro.com\/TEC1006TESER\/JobBoard\/18180d88-ced0-4361-bd09-d5eef66dab24\/OpportunityDetail?opportunityId=d0f828d2-3651-4860-8ec0-be75efe87072&amp;source=LinkedIn\">https:\/\/recruiting.ultipro.com\/TEC1006TESER\/JobBoard\/18180d88-ced0-4361-bd09-d5eef66dab24\/OpportunityDetail?opportunityId=d0f828d2-3651-4860-8ec0-be75efe87072&amp;source=LinkedIn<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Job Summary: The Controller oversees accounting, compliance, cash management, audit support, and donor reporting in Mozambique.
