Our client, one of the world\u2019s leading companies in the energy industry, is looking to appoint a Commercial Advisor, to be based in Maputo.<\/p>\n

Position Context<\/h3>\n

Reports to: Business Development Manager<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Promote the observance and implementation of the Project\u2019s commercial structure<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Liaise with other teams, such as Legal, Project Finance, Accounting, Project Support, Partner Relations, and provide support or input (as the case may be) on cross-cutting (transversal) matters concerning the Project.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Build report with external stakeholders<\/p>\n

Key Activities<\/h3>\n

1. Assist and take part in the negotiation of commercial agreements\/arrangements between Project Operator and the Government of the Republic of Mozambique related to:<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Exploration & Production Concession Contract (EPCC)<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Decree-Law<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Marine Concessions<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Financial Stability Agreements<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Petroleum Law and Regulations.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0LNG Project Agreement (if applicable).<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Facility Concession Contract (FCC) (if applicable).<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Other agreements as necessary<\/p>\n

2. Establish\/develop\/maintain a working relationship with Government of Mozambique\u2019s Ministerial\/Departmental\/Enterprise Staff at relevant government agencies such as:<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0National Petroleum Institute<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0ENH<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Ministry of Economy and Finance<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Ministry of Transport and Communications<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Immigration Authority<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Customs Authority<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Others as necessary or directed<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Establish\/develop\/maintain a working relationship with other Concessionaires relevant staff in Mozambique or abroad (as applicable).<\/p>\n

HSE\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Acquire basic HSE awareness by knowing the One-MAESTRO framework, the company & biodiversity policies, and the 12 Golden Rules;<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Comply with mandatory HSE trainings (HSE Induction and the e-learnings One MAESTRO for All, Safety Culture & Golden Rules);<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Prepare and present safety moments whenever required (at the beginning of meetings).<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Use of the Stop Card whenever required to prevent any accident or incident.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Contribute Specific action during JMS Word Safety Day.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Propose an HSE improvement action for the entity, based on personal observations at the workplace;<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Identify and Report all anomalies in the workplace and making proposal for correction<\/p>\n

Context & Environment<\/h3>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0The incumbent\u2019s original job location is Maputo<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Close work with and under the direction of Business Development Manager;<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Focus: provide support on the management of the commercial structure\/contractual framework of the Moz LNG Project, as well as help manage and promote the observance of all obligations arising therefrom, as negotiated and agreed with the Government of Mozambique.<\/p>\n

Accountability<\/h3>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Participate in and provide input on commercial negotiations with the Government of Mozambique and Project Partners.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Contribute to the formulation of negotiation positions from a commercial standpoint. The incumbent drafts internal memos\/summaries for the VP-Project Governance and the Business Development Manager.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Liaise with Project Partners, in coordination with Legal and other teams as necessary, in relation to ongoing commercial matters.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Participate in the fulfillment of mandatory reporting and corporate obligations of the Project\u2019s Special Purpose Entities (SPE\u2019s).<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Ensure the provision of regular updates for the Business Development Manager and Project Partners regarding the status SPE\u2019s reporting and corporate obligations.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Ensure the preparation and submission of the Project\u2019s quarterly and annual activity reports to the National Petroleum Institute.<\/p>\n

Qualifications<\/h3>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Bachelor\u2019s degree from a recognized institution in Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, Business or Law (however not a practicing attorney), Master\u2019s in Business Administration (MBA) preferred.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a010 or more years\u2019 business experience preferably in Oil and Gas, Energy or Heavy industry.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Business experience in African Countries, preferably In Mozambique<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Preferred business experience includes:<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Regular interaction with governmental agencies<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Commercial\/negotiating experience<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Mining or forestry or energy (power, oil & gas, pipeline) \u2013 commercial\/business related or operations management<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Business leadership\/management or entrepreneurial business experience<\/p>\n
